Who are we looking to work with?
U.S. MD/DO medical schools AND students, International Medical Graduates (IMGs) and U.S. citizen/permanent residents who are in medical school in the Caribbean/International.
What type of learners do you consider as a good fit?
U.S. MD/DO medical students who are looking for required medical rotations needed for graduation. IMG looking for clinical observerships to strengthen clinical exposure and resume to improve chances of successfully matching into a U.S. residency program.
What does the administration burden look like for both, preceptors and students?
Medical schools and students are asked for minimal materials such as CVs, transcripts, and ID verifications. MedSpanCR takes care of the rest. Onboarding at the clinical rotation sites, communication with the schools, leadership and curriculum/evaluation councils, EMR access, background checks, Program Letter of Agreements and much more.
Does the company assist with lodging?
Depending on the site of the rotation, we are able to provide housing via local partners in real estate sector and/or recommendations for safe housing options.
As a preceptor, how will I get compensated?
All preceptors will be independent contractors and will have a direct wire transfer of compensation to their bank account shortly after the student completes the rotation.
Will I be able to obtain a letter of recommendation (LOR)?
Yes! We are recruiting preceptors who are passionate about medical education and want to help students succeed in their careers. Students who perform well on rotations will be able to ask preceptors for LORs to get ready for residency applications.
What qualifications must I have to participate as a medical student/clinical observer?
Medical students/clinical observers will need a pass a background check, submit CV and vaccinations documentation and will need to provide a letter of good standing from their medical institution. After this, MedSpan CR will take care of the rest.
Will one have a learning experience that allows me to pass shelf exams and boards?
Rotations are focused on the clinical aspect of the clerkship. Significant teaching will occur and students will broaden their knowledge base significantly. In combination with the study material that are provided formally from the students school, a motivated student will pass shelf exams with near certainty.
Does the site have the ability to do audience rotation for future residency positions?
The rotation is not a formal interview for residency, however, it is essentially an extended interview. Students who perform well will make themselves known to the faculty and program directors of the hospital. They will set themselves up to obtain quality Letters of Recommendation and have an advantage in the application process for residency compared to other students.
What is the structure of the medical rotations?
Rotation durations and goal/objectives are set by the students medical school and the school will be responsible for it all. Preceptors are asked teach the students clinical medicine via patient encounters and bedside teaching. Preceptors have the flexibility to make the clinical educational experience how best fits their practice and teaching style.
